I know that he lost Game 7 of the World Series and all…but I still miss Bryan Shaw. I got this autograph that season–2016–while on vacation.
Dude was a rock while he was with the Indians. From 2013-2017 he averaged 72 innings, 61 hits and 67 K’s. He ended up leaving the Tribe with a career line of 21-22, 9 saves and a 3.11 ERA/1.188 WHIP/136 ERA+.
Shaw signed as a free agent with the Rockies this past season. It did not go well. 54.2 innings, allowing 70 hits while only striking out 54. He ended the season with an ERA near 6 and an ERA+ of 79. It was by far the worst season of his career.
I am not sure what happens next. He is so bad that you almost want to pay him not to pitch–but considering he is on the hook for 9 million this season–you can’t really afford that.
I hope he figures stuff out.
