New Arrival: Carlos Santana, 1b/dh, Cleveland Indians

Guy I work with was taking a late-season consignment for the Tribe. I sent a couple cards, and he was able to knock this one out. The card is nice: 2011 Allen and Ginter Rip Card. Turned out well, I think.

  • Carlos Santan is having a pretty good year. He is hitting .259/.363/.456 with 23 HR. That line is almost the same as last year, with only a little less power: .259/.366/.498 with 34 HR.
  • The real difference between 2016 and 2017 Santana is with the glove. There is a very real argument that Santana is a Gold Glove level defender in 2017, who is able to impact a game with his defensive abilities.
  • This comes through in his WAR. In 2016 he was good for 3.0. This year? Even with less power he is good for 3.4.
