2015 Topps Cleveland Indians Team Set

Notes

  • The 2015 Indians were supposed to be a decent team. They went 85–77 the season before and considering how young there were there was no reason they would not build on that.
  • They didn’t and ended the season 81-80, 3rd in the Central. You can read what happened here.
  • I love Brandon Moss. He was probably my favorite player on the A’s. The Indians traded for him in the offseason with the expectation that he would be a solid, power hitting outfielder. I was excited. It was a disaster. He hit .217/.288/.407 with 15 and was traded mid-season to St. Louis for pitcher Rob Kaminsky.
  • What’s worse is the player he cost–Joey Wendle–looks like he might become a very useful super utility player.
  • In June the Indians called up Francisco Lindor to the majors. It was his debut. He is working out ok.
  • Corey Kluber was so unlucky. He pitched 222 innings, allowing only 189 hits and striking out 245. Good for an ERA+ of 123. His record? 9-16.
  • Dany Salazar came into the season with a ton of hype and generally lived up to it, going 14-10 with a 125 ERA+ over 183 innings. This might be the closest he will ever get to living up to his potential.
  • You know who was fun? Cody Anderson. He was the team’s 5th starter and was really good over 91.1 innings, going 7-3 and only allowing 77 hits. He only struck out 44, but still, with a ERA+ of 141 and 1.016 WHIP…there was a reason to be excited. He was a disaster in 2016–elbow issues–and is just now in 2018 making a comeback.
