Michael Toglia was the Denvers #1 pick in the 2019 draft, 23rd overall. He was taken out of UCLA. He is one of my favorite players in the low-minors, so I was thrilled to get this autograph.
- Very much a power-hitter in college. His senior year he hit .314/.392/.624 with 17 HR.
Toglia hit the ground running as a pro, showing the same tools in low-A that he did in college.
- At Low-A Boise he hit .248/.369/.483 with 9 HR.
- He was selected to the NWL mid-season All-Star team.
The Rockies kept him at first this season, but he is more than athletic enough to handle a corner outfield spot. But as a first baseman, he has the potential to be a Gold Glove defender. As long as hit bat holds up there is no reason to move him.
