The player: Outfielder Robbie Grossman
The card: 2009 West Virginia Power #5 Robbie Grossman
Rookie Card: This is Robbie Grossman’s first team-issued minor league card. His first Bowman card was in 2008 Bowman Draft Picks & Prospects (#BDPP10), and his regular issue rookie card came in 2013 Topps Chrome (#82).
His time in Cleveland: Following his release from the Houston Astros following the 2015 season, Grossman signed with Cleveland. He spent a whole five months with the Tribe’s AAA team, hitting .256/.370/.453, before opting out of his contract and eventually signing with the Twins. In Minnesota, Grossman would find more regular at-bats, and with those at-bats, more success. Since 2016 he has hit .249/.355/.391 with a 106 OPS+ for the Twins, Oakland, and Detroit. He is just the kind of player the Cleveland organization has struggled to develop–a capable and cheap outfielder.
