Got these TTM roughly 10 years ago. One of my favorite TTM ever.
The 80’s and early 90’s were a dark time for Indians fans, but there were some bright spots. Doug Jones is one of those.
From 1986 to 1991 Doug Jones was one of the teams most dependable pitchers. Coming out of the pen he pitched 421 innings, allowed 417 hits while striking out 339 and racking up 128 saves. This was good for a 137 ERA+ and 1.223 WHIP and three All-Star selections (1988-1990).
When it comes to Indians closers, he is one of the best ever. Cody Allen is the current leader with 147, followed by Bob Wickman (139), and finally Doug Jones (129). In case you are wondering, rounding out the top 5 include Chris Perez (124) and Jose Mesa (104).
Overall Jones had a great career:
- 5 x All-Star selections
- 8 x Top 10 in Saves
- With 303 saves he is 27th all-time
- Career 21.5 WAR with a 69-79 record.
