I wrote to Adam Eaton during Spring Training in 2015 and got this card back. He swapped out cards on me, but this ended up looking better than the sweet spot card I was trying to get done. I am very happy with it and its one of my favorite cards in the collection.
Always been a big fan of his, in no small part because he is a fellow Ohioan.
Eaton was the Diamondbacks 19th round pick in 2010 out of Miami University of Ohio.
- In his first taste of pro ball he hit .385/.500/.575.
It was clear to observers that Arizona got a steal with Eaton, and he very quickly was tabbed as one of the organizations best hitting prospects.
- He ranked three times in the Diamondbacks Top 30: #30 in 2010; #12 in 2011; #4 in 2012.
He made the majors in 2012, but was part of a massive trade in 2013 that saw him shipped to the White Sox.
- From 2014-2016 he hit .290/.362/.422, averaging 10 HR and 16 stolen bases a year–good for an OPS+ of 119.
He was traded again in 2016 to the Nationals.
- He has had some injury problems that last couple of seasons.
- In 2018 he hit .301/.394/.411 with 5 HR and 9 stolen bases over 319 at-bats
He is healthy coming into 2019 and should start the season as the Nationals lead-off hitter. I am really excited to see him have a healthy season.
