Alex Gordon had a very nice 14-season career in the big leagues. The Royals drafted him 2nd overall in the 2005 draft, and he would make the majors just two seasons later. He was selected to three All-Star teams and won eight Gold Gloves, and retired with a line of .257/.338/.410, good for a 102 OPS+. He was a very good player, and big reason the Royals won the 2015 World Series.
I was a fan of Gordon as soon as he was drafted since he went to one of the only colleges that I actually follow, University of Nebraska, and went to the Royals, who at the time I kind of liked. He also signed a card for me TTM while he was in college, which also helped.
This card is from the 2007 Topps Rookie 1952 Edition set. I didn’t think these autographs were all that rare, but I don’t see this one for sale too often. To be honest, if Topps would have given every rookie class the 1952 Topps treatment I would never get tired of it. To me the design, despite being used repeatedly over the years, never gets old.
