Andres “El Caballo” Mora only spent four seasons in the majors, from 1976-1980, hitting .223/.256/.383 with 27 HR. He never saw more than 233 at-bats in a season, and during his final season in 1980 with Cleveland he only got two hits in 18 at-bats. It was not an impressive career in the major leagues.

But Andres Mora’s career was more than just his four seasons in the majors. When he finally retired from baseball in 1997, he was recognized as one of the greatest power hitters in Mexican League history, and would very likely be the league’s all-time homerun champion if it wasn’t for his four seasons in the majors. From 1972-1997 he hit 419 HR, the fourth most in the league’s history. During that period, he also hit .314 with 324 doubles, 32 triples, and 1,498 RBIs.

He was elected to the Mexican Baseball Hall of Fame in 2003.
