The Indians are not unique in having a deep stable of failed pitching prospects. Here is a list of the guys that I can think of off the top of my head:

#1. Chuck Lofgren (2004 4th round, #2 prospect in 2006 and 2007)
#2. Jeremy Sowers (2004 1st round, #2 prospect in 2005)
#3. David Huff (2006 1st round, #8 prospect in 2008)
#4. Adam Miller (2003 1st round, #1 prospect from 2004-2006)
#5. Jason Knapp (2008 2nd round, #4 prospect in 2009)
#6. Adam White (2009 1st round, #2 prospect in 2010)
#7. J.D. Martin (2001 1st round, #5 prospect in 2001)
#8. Steven Wright (2006 2nd round, #22 prospect in 2014)
#9. Brady Aiken (2015 1st round, #3 prospect in 2015)
#10. Rob Kaminsky (2013 1st round, #9 prospect in 2015)
#11. Drew Pomeranz (2010 1st round, #1 prospect in 2011)
#12. Dan Denham (2001, 1st round, #4 prospect in 2001)
#13. Jeremy Guthrie (2002, 1st round, #2 prospect in 2003)
#14. Cody Anderson (2011, 14th round, #5 prospect in 2013)

For what its worth, many of these guys had very nice careers once they left the Indians. Guthrie, Pom, Wright have all gone on to bigger and better things. Just not with the Indians.

David Huff was a prototypical case.

Huff was the 39th overall pick in the 2006 draft, taken by the Indians out of the University of California. He was a well thought of prospect, and made the majors in 2009. He would pitch 128.1 innings and went 11-8. But the perephrials were brutal: 5.61 ERA/1.558 WHIP with a 76 ERA+. The next season he went 2-11, and things never really got better from there. He had moments of success, but overall was never really able to stick on the big league club.

The Yankees slected him off waivers in 2013 and he was last seen in the majors in 2016, pitching for the Angels.
