Relief pitcher Louis Head was drafted in the 18th round by the Cleveland Indians in 2012.
He was a very good bullpen arm while moving up through the Cleveland organization, and seemed like he had the potential to make the big leagues at some point. But in 2018 he struggled with the Cleveland AAA-club, and was released by the Indians. Its seemed like a quick hook for a guy who seemed like a legit pitching prospect, but that is me.
He bounced around a little in 2019 and 2020 before landing with the Tampa Bay Rays for the 2021 season. He opened the year with their AAA-club was was very effective: 23 IP, 30 K’s and only 7 walks. The Rays noticed, he was called up to the big league club, and has since pitched 17 innings in the majors, only allowing 10 hits while striking out 16 and only walked 5.
Good for him. Its always nice to see a dude land on his feet after getting released.
