  • Nick Allen was drafted in the 3rd round of the 2017 draft out of Francis Parker HS in San Diego.
  • He has become one of the better prospects in the system, and opened the 2021 season as Oakland’s #6 prospect. I am thinking he will be in the top 3 come 2022.
  • He had a fantastic 2021 campaign, hitting .288/.346/.403 with 6 HR between AA and AAA-ball, though his numbers did slide quite a bit following his promotion to AAA.
  • One thing that did not slide was his defense–he remains one of the best defenders in the minors, and that alone will almost certainly get him a call to the majors sooner rather than later.

Allen will open the 2022 season in AAA, and will likely get called up at some point in the season. He should be one of the core players when the Athletics enter their next contention window.
