Ramon Hernandez had a 15-season career in the big leagues. He debuted in 1999 with the Oakland Athletics, by the time he retired following the 2013 season he had a career line of .263/.327/.417 with 169 HR and a 96 OPS+. He was selected to the 2003 All-Star team, his last season in Oakland. He was the rare catcher with both offensive pop who was not a butcher behind the plate.
While he spent 15-seasons in the big league, I will always remember him as being part of those fantastic early 2000’s Oakland clubs. He was traded away to the Padres following the 2003 season for outfielder Mark Kotsay.
