Taylor Tankersley was drafted by the Marlins with the 27th overall pick of the 2004 draft. He was the definition of a polished college pitcher, and while he did not profile as a top-of-the-line ace it was expected that he would move quickly through the system.
From 2005-2007 he consistently ranked as one of the Marlins Top Prospects, ranking as high as #7 in 2005. He would only spend two seasons in the minors before getting called up to the big leagues in 2006 to join the Marlins pen.
Tankersley would only spend four seasons in the majors. His first two seasons were great, and he was a solid relief arm that averaged 44 IP a season and a 126 ERA+. But in 2008 an elbow injury derailed his season, and he would never quite get his groove back. He would stick around a couple more seasons, mostly in AAA, before retiring following the 2011 season.
