From the Collection: Taylor Teagarden, c, Texas Rangers
…
Taylor Teagarden was a 3rd round pick of the Texas Rangers in 2005. He was a very good, glove-first prospect with excellent strike-zone discipline. He would have Tommy John surgery in 2006, but it did little to dim his prospect status. From 2006-2009 he was one of the Ranger’s top prospects, ranking as high as #4 for the 2008 season.

Teagarden made the big leagues in 2008, and hit .319/.396/.809 over 47 at-bats. Small sample size, but a great start. Unfortunately, he would never quite hit that well again. He would spend parts of the next eight seasons in the big leagues, but would never get more than 200 at-bats. He would retire following the 2013 season with a career line of .202/.260/.376.
