Abel Duarte was signed as international free agent by Yankees in October 2013 out of the Dominican Republic.
2018 was the first season where he spent any real time in affiliate ball.
And it was a very decent showing. In Low-A he pitched 23.2 innings in relief, allowing only 20 hits and striking out 26. He walked 15. Good for a 1.14 ERA/1.479 WHIP.
The biggest issue is that he is 24…which puts him at 2.5 years above the league average. So time is ticking pretty quick with him.
