I was so excited about Vanderbilt baseball coming to Hawaii. The team is filled with great players, and more than a few are going to be playing in the professional ranks someday soon. I had a few players I was particularly excited about, and infielder Carter Young was high on that list.
Coming into the season, Perfect Game had Carter ranked one of the top prospects in the SEC–even a potential first-round selection. This season he is hitting .252/.386/.486 with 5 HR, which are good numbers on their own but even better when you remember he is playing a shortstop, a premium position, in one of the most challenging conferences in the league.
