The Guardians minor league system has not performed to the lofty expectations of the pre-season. But, there are some bright spots. Among them, is infielder Dayan Frias.

Before the season, Frias was ranked just outside the Top 30 prospects in the organization, but this was more due to the system’s depth rather than Frias’ potential. Frias opened the season with high-A Lake County and has had a breakout season, hitting .256/.358/.430 with 10 HR. What’s nice is that he is walking plenty, with 43 walks to 63 Ks. And people have noticed, as he has moved into the MLB Pipeline organization’s Top 30. His biggest challenge moving forward is finding at-bats against other infield Guardian prospects like Brayan Rocchio, Angel Martinez, Jake Fox, Angel Genao, Jose Tena, Juan Brito, Milan Tolentino, Welbyn Francisca, Gabriel Arias, and Andres Gimenez.
