Jacob Wilson is an exciting prospect. In 2024, his first season of pro ball after being drafted by Oakland with the 6th overall pick of the 2023 draft, he carried a .447 OBP and 1.142 OPS over three levels. Do you want to get promoted to the majors? That is how you do it. And the Athletics thought the same thing, calling Wilson up in July 2024. While he does not have a ton of power when you get on base like he does–all while playing a strong shortstop–you can overlook that. It’s interesting how he looks like an upgraded version of his dad, Jack Wilson, who spent 12 seasons in the majors playing shortstop.
