CSUN is in town this weekend. The Matadors are having a fantastic season and are near the top of the Big West standings. While many players on the roster are having stand-out performances, freshman Jarren Sanderson jumped out at me. And, because of rain, I figured I might only be able to get a couple of players–I made sure he was at the top of my list. And I got him before the rain rolled in, so I am happy.

On the season Sanderson is hitting .344 with a .434 OBP and one HR. While those numbers certainly stand on their own, they are even better when you account he is a freshman. So it’s likely he’ll improve in the coming seasons, which is great news for CSUN. Not that his success should be too big of a surprise. Coming out of high school in California he was one of the state’s Top 100 prospects, which is impressive considering how much talent the state churns out.
