Jean Carlos Mejia was signed as an amateur free agent back in 2004. He sits in the low-90’s with a plus change-up. This is his second season in affiliate ball and his first in full-season low-A ball.
He is more than holding his own. Through 30.1 innings he is carrying a 2.67 ERA/1.253 WHIP, allowing 29 hits, 30 K, and only 9 walks. Not bad at all.

He is 21, so just under the league average age, and looks like a legit starting pitching prospect. Time will tell how far he goes.
