I got this autograph in 2016 during the Eastern League All-Star game. I remember it was one of the few that I was able to snag at that nightmare event.
Jorge Alfaro has been a prospect for a long time, ranking as one of baseballs Top 100 since roughly 2014. He made it to the majors for the first time in 2016, though has yet to spend a full season with the big league club. He hit well in just over 100 at-bats in 2017 (.318/.360/.514 with 5 HR for a 127 OPS+), and this season hit .262/.324/.407 with 10 HR for a 95 OPS+. It’s a bit of a dip in production, but he was also catching–which is not easy by itself.
He should be the Phillies catcher of the future. His defense is still a work in progress, but he is entering his age-26 season so there is plenty of reasons to be optimistic that he will continue to develop. A catcher with his pop is something that you are willing to wait on.
