I had this card laying around and had an opportunity to get it signed by Hoskins. Jumped at the chance, and it turned out great. Glad I did it.
Rhys Hoskins was a well thought of prospect moving up through the Phillies system, showing plus power and great discipline. His 2016 campaign in AA was very impressive: .281/.377.566 with 38 HR.
He made the majors in 2017 and more than held his own, hitting .259/.369/.618 with 18 HR. He finished 4th in NL ROY voting. He is doing more of the same this season, and in 250 AB he is hitting .260/.375/.504 with 13 HR. The numbers are not quite as good, but he is still producing at an above-average clip (137 OPS+), so if this is what we are calling his “sophomore slump”…then things are going great.
