Shogo Akiyama signed a 3-year, $21M deal with the Cincinnati Reds this past off-season. The 31-year old veteran has spent his entire nine-season career with the Seibu Lions the Nippon Professional Baseball Organization. He was very good.
- In Japan, he owns a career line of .301/.376/.454 with 116 HR.
- Five-time Pacific League All-Star selection.
- Six-time Pacific League Gold Glove winner.
He is a little older, but he is coming off a very strong season with the Saitama Seibu Lions.
- In 2019 he hit .303/.392/.471 with 20 HR.
Akiyama has a plus glove and decent pop. I think he will be productive for his three seasons in the states–this was a very nice signing by the Reds.
