Tommy DeJuneas was on my radar since his college team, North Carolina State, played here in Hawaii in 2017. He was a potential first-round draft pick after his freshman season at NC State, but he struggled with his command in 2016 and 2017, resulting in him dropping to the Indians in the 26th round of the 2017 draft.
While his 2017 numbers at NC State were not all that great–he allowed only 28 hits in 32 IP, but also walked (25) as many as he struck out (27)–he performed well as a pro in both 2017 and most of 2018.
He was traded by the Indians to the Astros a couple months ago, and in the process was promoted from Low-A to High-A. While his numbers are still good, the walk rate has spiked against better hitters. In Low-A he was allowing 2.45 walks per 9IP, but that has spiked to 7.71 in High-A. Still, he is missing bats (only 8 hits and 10 K in 11.2 innings), so there is something worth watching here. He gets that command under control then he will move fast.
