Coming into the 2012 season Trevor May was considered the Phillies #1 prospect. He profiled as a #2 with the floor of a middle of the rotation workhorse. But that season he was traded to the Twins, part of the Ben Revere deal, and his stock slipped in the Minnesota organization. He has struggled to find any consistency in the majors and lost his 2017 season to Tommy John surgery.
He opened his 2018 campaign rehabbing in AAA. He did not do great–expected considering his injury–but the Twins were forced to call him up due to his rehab clock close to up. He does not have the stuff nor stamina so move back into the rotation, so instead, he is pitching out of the pen. He is more than holding his own, with 7 K’s in 4.2 IP.
