UC San Diego is visiting Hawaii this weekend. UCSD is one of the newest additions to the Big West and is also, as of today, sitting at the top of the conference. This is fun since they are only three seasons removed from being a DII team, though because of this they are still in the DII to DI transition and thus not eligible for postseason play.

The team is stacked with players having fantastic seasons, so I had quite a list of players I was hoping to get. Luckily the team was super cool about autographs, and I was able to get 90% of the players that I wanted on the first night. Two of the players that were high on my list were infielder Patrick Hackworth and first baseman Kane Doyle. Hackworth, a redshirt freshman, is hitting .337 with an insane .463 OBP. He has one home run on the season and is walking (16) almost as much as striking out (18). Doyle, a redshirt sophomore, is hitting .331 with a .417 OBP. He has more walks (15) than strikeouts (13).
