- William Toffey was drafted three times before he went pro; Yankees tried in 2014 (23rd Round), Orioles in 2016 (25th), and then finally the A’s in 2017 (4th).
- He was drafted out of Vanderbilt. His junior year was really impressive, hitting .354/.475/.602 with 12 HR. He also only had 30 strikeouts in 206 at-bats.
- As a pro, he has continued to hit well. This season with High-A Stockton he is hitting .240/.369/.380; his average is a little low but part of that is because he walks so much–26 walks to 37 K in121 at-bats.
- He is towards the bottom of most Oakland Top-30 prospect lists. He is a great hitter and is good on defense, but there are questions about how much power he will bring. If that develops he will move quick.
