From the (Spring Training) Field: Cody Morris, p, Cleveland Guardians
…
Pitcher Cody Morris was drafted by Cleveland in the 7th round of the 2018 draft out of South Carolina. Over the last couple of seasons, he has become one of the organization’s top pitching prospects. In 2022, he made his MLB debut and more than held his own against big league hitters.

But, like so many pitchers, Morris’s biggest enemy is health. Since being drafted he has never pitched more than 89 innings in a season. That isn’t great. Especially if Morris’s future is in the starting rotation, which with his stuff it should most certainly be. And he is already shut down to start the 2023 season with shoulder/back soreness, so that isn’t awesome either. It also does not help that Cleveland has another wave of good starting pitching coming up through the minors that include top prospects Joey Cantillo, Gavin Williams, and Tanner Bibee. So Morris might not have a choice to shift into a full-time pen role. And to be honest, maybe that is a good thing for him, health-wise. He certainly would not be the first player to make the move and have a good career.
