Hockey Break: Rick Nash, LW, Colombus Blue Jackets
…
I was briefly a Columbus Blue Jackets fan. I still like them, but they are my #2 NHL team behind the St. Louis Blues. But I would probably not even be a Blues fan if I had not gotten Blue Jackets star LW Rick Nash’s autograph through the mail back in 2008. At the time he was the best player on the Blue Jackets club and the first NHL autograph I ever had in my collection.
…
Nash had a great career. He was selected first overall in the 2002 NHL Draft by Columbus and would play 15 seasons in the NHL for the Blue Jackets, New York Rangers, and Boston Bruins. He was selected to six National Hockey League All-Star Games. He is arguably the best player in Columbus history, though a case could be made for G Sergei Bobrovsky, RW Cam Atkinson, or maybe LW Artemi Panarin. I would probably be more into collecting the Blue Jackets, but Artemi Panarin is famously difficult. If I luck into a nice autograph of his someday, I will probably lean into this collection some more.
