Remember Jason Stokes? He was a big deal for a hot second. After a prestigious high school career in Mississippi, he was drafted by the Marlins in the second round of the 2000 draft. In 2002, playing for the A-ball Kane County Cougars, Stokes had his most impressive season, hitting .341 with 27 home runs. He was honored with both The Sporting News Minor League Player of the Year Award and the Topps Minor League Player of the Year Award. He was one of baseball’s biggest prospects.

Unfortunately, like many players, he struggled against more advanced pitching in the upper minors, and his last season in affiliate ball was 2007, playing for AAA-ball for Oakland.
