Addison Russ is a relief pitcher with the Yankees.
Russ was drafted by the Phillies in the 19th round in 2017 out of Houston Baptist. He has developed into a legit relief prospect—BA ranked him the Phillies #24 prospect in 2020. He was traded to the Yankees in August 2020 for another relief pitcher, 32-year old David Hale. The Phillies pen was in desperate need of an upgrade, and while Hale is pretty much a league-average pitcher, league-average is still an upgrade compared to what the current Philly relief corps is comprised of.
Russ is good. He will make the majors sooner rather than later.
