Cleveland Guardians seem to have yet another solid middle infield prospect coming up through the system: Angel Genao.
Angel Genao, 19, was signed by Cleveland a year ago, and while he opened his second season with the organization in the Arizona Complex League (ACL), he ended it with low-A Lynchburg. He got the bump to affiliate ball since his numbers in the ACL were awesome: .322/.394/.416 with two homers. He only got 28 at-bats with Lynchburg, hitting .179, but it was the perfect way to end a solid season.
Also: I know ACL stats can be…inflated. But evaluators also seem to be optimistic about his tools. Baseball America rated him the #1 prospect in the ACL and believe that both his bat and plus defense are for real. He is almost certainly going to open the 2023 in Lynchburg as one of Cleveland’s Top 20 prospects and could up quickly if he hits anything like he did in Arizona.
