I have been a fan of Brock Deatherage since he came through Hawaii with NC State back in 2018. He did not have a great junior season, but he was clearly a talented player who was primed for a monster senior season. And it was. He hit .307/.397/.548 with 14 HR and would be drafted by the Tigers in the 10th round of the 2018 draft.
Deatherage hit the ground running as a pro, hitting .326/.385/.504 between three levels in 2018, ending the season in High-A. He would end the year ranked the organizations #28 prospect.
This season he is having a rougher go of it. He is back in High-A and hitting .226/.264/.332, which is not really great–especially when compared to his monster 2018 campaign. But he is stealing bases (21) and playing center field, so that should buy his bat some time.
