While I don’t think you could call me a Baltimore Orioles fan, I really like those late-60’s and early 70’s teams. Robinson was a huge part of those teams. All told he had a hell of a career:
- Robinson was famous for his defense–in case his nickname, “The Human Vacum Cleaner”, did not clue you in on that. During his 23-year career, he would win 16 Gold Gloves.
- But he had a decent bat too and had a career line of .267/.322/.401 with 268 HR. He actually led the league in RBI in 1964.
- 18 total All-Star selections.
- He was one two Championship teams–1966 and 1970–and was the MVP of the 1970 World Series.
- And of course he was the 1964 American League MVP.
- He was a first-ballot Hall of Famer in 1983.
Fantastic career.
