As a sophomore Eric Gilgenbach started 14 games for Notre Dame in 2017 and over 36 at bats hit .333/.500/.608. He had three home runs and a 13/23 BB/K ratio.
This summer Gilgenbach played for the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders in the collegiate Northwoods League. He would tie for the team lead with nine home runs. He also looked like he could handle himself with the glove, with only two errors in 430.1 innings at first base.
He seems like a legit prospect. According to Notre Dame, while in High School he was rated the top third baseman in Michigan and the 36th third baseman nationally by Perfect Game. Hopefully, he will see more playing time in 2018 and position himself to be taken in the draft. He certainly seems like he has the bat.
