This weekend I took a couple of minutes to try and appreciate who good a player Frank White was, and what a huge role he played on the Kansas City Royals dynasty that would end up winning the World Series in 1985.
White was a glove-first type (he won eight Gold Gloves), but he could be dangerous at the plate as well; he was the 1980 AL ALCS MVP and from 1982-1987 he had three seasons of an OPS+ north of 105, average 17 HR, and won a Silver Slugger at second base. By the time White retired following the 1990 season he had been selected to five All-Star games and would be inducted into the Royals Hall of Fame in 1995.
