Peak Vladimir Guerrero, from 1998-2008, was something else.
During that period Guerrero hit .325/.392/.581 with 149 OPS+. He averaged 35 HR a season. My favorite stat is that he only averaged 70 K’s and 59 walks a season. The dude liked to swing. And when he swung, he normally made contact.
That profile is exceedingly rare, and for most players results in lots of strikeouts. But it worked for Vlad. And by the time he retired following the 2011 season, he had nine All-Star selections and eight Silver Sluggers under his belt. He was the AL MVP in 2004 and was selected to the Hall of Fame in 2018.
