When J.T. Realmuto was here in Hawaii for the All-Star workout I was not able to get him. He signed plenty but I was always in the wrong spot. I would have gotten him easily on the second day had I gone…but I decided to instead stay home and relax. This first day was more than enough for me. Instead, I decided to purchase this–which was way easier than standing in the sun for eight hours.
Realmuto is easily one of the best best catchers in the game. This season with the Marlins he hit .277/.340/.484 with 21 HR–good for a 131 OPS+ and 4.3 WAR. He also rated his first All-Star selection. This is his 5th season in the big leagues and his numbers have been trending up every year–so he looks like the real deal. He is 27, so while I am thinking this might be as good as he gets I imagine he should be able to sustain this for a while. That said he probably won’t be sustaining it with the Marlins–he is on the trading block and more and more it’s looking like he will open the season in another uniform.
