2018 Topps Archives is a pretty nice looking set this season, and I decided to jump on this card. Tough to find one with a clean autograph, but I think I got a pretty decent copy.
Back in late-2014, the Indians traded RP Vinny Pestano–who was well on the backside of his career–to the Angels for SP prospect Mike Clevinger. At the time Clevinger was the Angels #4 prospect, though he had just missed most of the 2013 season due to Tommy John surgery. Still, considering how bad Pestano had been for the year previous I am shocked they got anything for him.
Since coming to the Tribe Clevinger has steadily moved up the organization ladder. He made the majors in 2016 but did not stick until the latter half of 2017. This is his first full season in the rotation and he is easily one of the better starters in the American League: 6-3, 3.03 ERA/146 ERA+/1.183 WHIP over 104 innings.
