The Indians are having a rough time of it in the majors, but at least there are a couple players moving up through the minors to be excited about.
Will Benson was drafted 14th overall in the 2016 draft. A high school player, he was considered a project with a sky-high ceiling.
This season he started the season in Low-A, his first taste of full-season ball. He is hitting .190, which is not great. Thing is, that is pretty much the only stat of his that is not good. Overall he is hitting .190/.365/.401 with 9 HR and 35 walks to 53 K’s.
He is more than holding his own, and assuming he continues to develop his contact skill he should be just fine. He is young too–only 20–so he plenty of time to figure things out.
