In July 2005 Beckett Baseball magazine published an All-Time Hot List, tracking the last nine years’ worth of Hot List cards and ranking them #1-#244. This card, 1995 Bowman Best Andruw Jones, was # 14 on that list. When this set came out, packs ran a pricey $5 each. But the line-up of rookie cards was impressive, including Bobby Abreu, Bartolo Colon, Scott Elarton, Juan Encarnacion, Vladimir Guerrero, Andruw Jones, Hideo Nomo, Rey Ordonez, Scott Rolen and Richie Sexson.
Andruw Jones made the majors in August 1996 and would hit two home runs in game one of the 1996 World Series. At the time he was only 19 years old and was the youngest player to ever hit a homerun in baseball history. He exploded in popularity, and his cards went from roughly $8 book value in January 1996, to $30 by the end of the year. The card can be had for less than $10 today.
